About Me

About Me

Hello sweet friends! I'm so glad you're here! Here's a little bit about me...     I was born in Missouri, right outside of Kansas City. My family & I are die hard Chiefs fans... no seriously, my dad told my husband that he couldn't marry me unless he was a chiefs fan... I couldn't be married to a cowboys fan!      We moved around a lot during my childhood, but ended up here in Corpus Christi where I still live today with my own family. When I was in 4th grade we moved all the way from Minnesota to south Texas… you can imagine my shock with the temperature difference.      I went to public school for a little bit before my mom decided to homeschool my two brothers and I. Here in Corpus there's a big homeschool community, with lots of activities like drama, sports and even prom. I was a cheerleader and I actually met my husband because he played on our 6 man footbal...

A letter to my mom

If you didn't know, mothers day is around the corner (cough, cough...May 11) and what better way to tell my mom how much I love her, than through a letter? So mom... this ones is for you.

    Mom,

I never realized how tiring and daunting being a mother is until I became one. And even now, a mom myself, I still heavily rely on you for guidance. Too often my gratitude goes unsaid in the daily rush of life.

Thank you for being my constant source of strength and support. Thank you for being wiling to drop everything to help me. Thank you for listening when no one else would.

Growing up I know you had your own struggles, your own worries and fears. Never once did you project them onto me. Never once did you make me feel as if I was a burden. As an adult, I now have a new respect for you, and I see what you did to protect me from things of this world.

Your faith is something I admire. I always have. You move when God tells you to move, you stay quite when God tells you to stay quite. You love bigger than anyone I know and your love shines through in so many ways. The way you answer your phone (no matter how many times I call), the way you invite the whole family over for dinner just to see everyone's faces, the way you drop what's going on in your own heart to tend to someone else heart.

Growing up, you were known as the 'fun' mom. You used to laugh and laugh that you were the embarrassing mom who did silly things like singing too loud or dancing up in front of everyone at my valentines day dance. I never wanted you to know this, because a teenager is supposed to be embarrassed of her mom, but I wasn't. I was thankful that God made you my mom.

Being embarrassed meant I had my mom there. I had you at my valentines dance (although you doing the Gangnam Style will forever be in my head). I had you driving me and all my friends around. Me being embarrassed meant I had a mom that cared enough to be in my life.

You cared so much about us that you pulled us from public school because you saw the negative impact it had on me and my brothers. You changed your whole world to make sure we were cared for in the way that God told you to. Even if that meant you were scared doing it.

Now I have the joy of also being your friend! People might think it's lame to be friends with your mom, but I think it's pretty cool.

I will forever be thankful for who you are and how you raised me. I will forever be thankful that you were obedient to God, because if you weren't, I would not be where I am today. I'm so thankful for the friendship we have today and the love you continue to show.

    I love you mom.

                                            Your daughter,

                                                            AlliJean
